GrammarBot is a free writing analyzer for grammar, readability, tone, and SEO. We built it because every existing tool in the space either locked the useful features behind a paywall, drowned users in nags, or required handing over your text to a remote server.

Our principles

• Free for the long term.The core tool runs in your browser using open-source libraries. There’s no server cost to us per analysis, so there’s no reason to gate it.
• Privacy by default.Your text never leaves your device when computing readability scores. The grammar engine optionally uses the LanguageTool API, which doesn’t persist submitted text.
• No nags, no upsells.We monetize through optional affiliate links to advanced SEO tools and a single non-intrusive display ad — nothing else.
• Built in the open.The readability algorithms are standard published formulas. No AI black boxes, no “proprietary” scoring — we just implement the math cleanly and let you see the results.

Who’s behind this

GrammarBot is built and maintained by a small team of indie developers and writers. We use the tool ourselves daily — for blog posts, documentation, client deliverables, and personal essays. Every feature that ships is something at least one of us wanted for our own workflow.
