Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 May 2026
GrammarBot (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at grammarbot.app. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. What we collect
1.1 Text you analyze
All readability, statistics, vocabulary, tone, and SEO analyses run entirely in your browser. Your text never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers for these computations.
When you use grammar checking (an optional feature), text is sent to the LanguageTool API for processing. LanguageTool’s privacy policy applies to that data.
1.2 Anonymous usage analytics
We collect anonymous information about how the site is used:
- Pages visited and time spent
- Browser type, OS, and device class
- Approximate location (country-level, derived from IP)
- Referrer URL (which site sent you to us)
- Click events on buttons, tools, and links
We never log the content of text you analyze. We collect only metadata like character count and word count, in aggregate.
1.3 Account data (if you create an account)
If you sign up for an account, we collect:
- Email address (required)
- Full name (optional)
- OAuth profile info from Google (if you sign in with Google)
- Analyses you choose to save (text content + computed scores)
1.4 Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address and subscription source. You can unsubscribe via any newsletter email.
2. How we use data
- To provide and improve the service
- To authenticate you and store your saved analyses
- To send newsletter emails (only if you subscribed)
- To analyze usage patterns and prioritize features
- To debug and fix issues
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
